AXIS Design Tool

To make the most of this calculation tool, please read the User's Guide below before starting.

This link takes you to the AXIS Design Tool, which helps you determine the required bandwidth and storage capacity based on your selections.

Intro - the new version of Design Tool offers a more versatile and realistic recreation of possible image complexities offering variations in intensity of light and movement.

Guidelines - for new features, as you enter Design Tool: Double click on Image complexity and you will receive an explanation of the different scenarios in regards to light intensity and amount of movement.

Storage/rollover - is only dependent on changes in recording and event recording mode (not affected by viewing). Bandwidth will be offered as separate amounts for each mode in kbit/s

Preview - in order to see changes in compression ratios, the videos can be viewed in separate windows. In order to compare two scenarios or same scenario in different resolution, framerates etc, please open separate windows by viewing examples in all three modes (viewing, recording, alarm video)

As you find your “best choice” setting in separate window, update the calculator by pressing update this camera.

The video sequences are captured through Axis 243S Video Servers in both Motion-JPEG and MPEG-4. The files stored on the Design tool have been trans-coded to a Microsoft format in order to use standard players and also to avoid any licensing issues. The trans-coding affects the image quality slightly and the file sizes. Please do use the files size produced by the tool in the calculation and not the file size on the video file
